Recovery of base and precious metals from scrap TV boards using zig-zag air separator

Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipments (WEEE) is one the fastest growing waste streams in world. The treatment WEEE with high content precious metals (Au particular) has received most attention due to their economic potential. development simple, environmentally friendly cost-effective methods for recovery from “low-value” (e.g., <100 g/t Au) important circular economy perspective. In this study, separation base (Cu) (Ag) scrap TV boards (STVBs) by using a zig-zag air separator was investigated. Size-reduced STVBs (-1 mm) were subjected tests after removal fine fraction (-0.1 mm). sized material +0.1 determined have metal 15.4% Cu, 47 Ag 0.05% Fe, no gold. tests, effect flow rate (4-16 m/s) on studied. Increasing resulted low recoveries concurrent grades concentrate. Separation efficiency (%) calculations showed that efficient obtained at highest 16 m/s. At rate, recovered concentrate which contains 62.3% Cu 198 63.3% 73.9% Ag. findings indicated separators can be used obtain metal-rich under suitable conditions regime.
